International Parental Child Abduction - Mexico

Information on international parental child abduction is available from the Bureau of Consular Affairs' Office of Children's Issues. Parents involved in an international parental abduction, or those fearing the possibilities of one, are urged to contact that office. Services of the office include:

  • Information about international child abduction, enforcement of visitation rights and abduction prevention techniques.
  • Information about the Hague Convention on International Parental Abductions to which both the U.S. and Mexico are parties.
  • Help parents try to prevent international parental abduction.

If your child was abducted by someone other than the child's other parent or legal guardian and taken out of the U.S., you should contact local law enforcement and FBI offices immediately.
